Set up the Chrome extension

  1. Add AudioNotch

    Add to Chrome ↗

    Choose Add to Chrome, then pin AudioNotch from Chrome’s Extensions menu.

  2. Open your player

    Play audio in a browser tab, such as YouTube or the Spotify web player. Stay signed in to AudioNotch in the same Chrome profile.

  3. Notch this tab

    Click AudioNotch in the toolbar, check your saved frequency, then choose Notch this tab. Start at a comfortable volume. You can close the popup while listening.

Your audio stays on your computer. The extension does not record, download, or upload it.

AudioNotch receives extension version, language, random identifiers, popup opens, filter starts/stops, filter-active time and error codes to measure use and diagnose faults. Pending logs stay on this computer for up to 7 days. Usage logs expire after 400 days and error logs after 90 days. Logs exclude audio, page addresses, page contents, account details and your saved frequency.

Which music services can I use?

The extension filters audio Chrome makes available from the selected tab. Try YouTube, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, or the Spotify web player. Protected playback can prevent capture on some services and devices. If no sound is detected, check the player or stop to restore the original audio. It cannot filter the Spotify desktop app or other native apps.

Can I use it on my phone?

Chrome extensions run on desktop computers. This extension does not filter other apps on iPhone, iPad, or Android. Your saved AudioNotch sounds remain available on those devices. Open my sounds.

How do I switch tabs or turn it off?

Open the extension and choose Stop & restore original audio. Then open your next music tab and choose Notch this tab. Closing the popup keeps filtering; closing the captured tab ends the session. Stopping restores the player’s original volume, which may be louder.

Why is the volume different?

The extension applies your saved notch without the extra boosts around it used in processed audio files. It reduces gain when needed to limit peaks instead of making all audio quieter. You can adjust listening volume before starting and while playing.

My account or saved frequency changed

Choose Refresh account in the extension. Stop and restart filtering to apply a different frequency or account. The extension checks access during playback; if it cannot verify your account, audio pauses until you reconnect or stop.

I signed in, but the extension still asks me to sign in

Use the same Chrome profile for AudioNotch and your player, then choose Refresh account. Allow the extension to access audionotch.com in Chrome’s extension settings. Browser cookie restrictions can prevent the account connection.

What permissions does it need?

Tab audio capture starts only when you choose it. AudioNotch website access checks your saved frequency and subscription. Local storage remembers listening volume. An offscreen page keeps audio running when the popup closes, and a background alarm checks account access. The extension has no microphone, recording, or browsing-history permission.
