Why You Need to Periodically Re-Tune (Redetermine) Your Tinnitus Frequency

Recently a user e-mailed us with a question. Paraphrasing, it was as follows:

I’ve been using Notched Sound Therapy for 3 weeks. Although I’ve experienced a therapeutic benefit, I’ve noticed that at the beginning, my tinnitus frequency was 13,000 hZ – and now it’s about 15,000 hZ. Should I be concerned about this variation?

This query illustrates a tremendously important point about Tailor-Made Notched Sound Therapy:

  • Your tinnitus frequency may change during your course of therapy, and the location of the Notch must change accordingly.

Notched Sound Therapy will only work if the Notch aligns with your tinnitus frequency. Because it’s so common for one’s tinnitus frequency to shift during a treatment course (which occurs over several months), it’s important to follow the treatment plan and periodically re-tune (redetermine) your tinnitus frequency.

In reply to this user’s question – it’s normal for tinnitus frequency to vary over the duration course. In the Notched White Noise scientific paper we cite in our F.A.Q., the authors recommended regular re-detection (re-“tuning”) of the user’s tinnitus frequency.
